This is the post I didn’t want to write, the one I’d been dreading, the words we hoped need never be typed. We lost. Peacock Visual Arts are in dire straits now as their previously approved building, with 75% funding, has been tossed aside by Aberdeen City Councillors in favour of a pipe dream that will [...] Small things are more interesting when you stop and take a closer look: I’ve been playing around with a bellows extension this week which allows me to get greater than 1:1 ratio photos. It opens up a new range of interesting bits and pieces to take photos of, such as the sycamore helicopter and the pine cone [...] April 13th saw the consultation report for the City Square Project finally published: Here though it seems some groups may have had access to it before the rest of us, either that or Aberdeen Journals have the fastest journalists and printing team in the business as a mere hour after it was published online I was [...] Red Squirrels munching on some free nuts in Carnie Woods, Westhill. There’s a good number of reds in this small wood and as it’s a busy dog walking site they seem quite comfortable with folk watching them. This guy sat eating away quite happily for 10 minutes until a squadron of dogs came bounding round the [...] I feel sick. Right in the pit of my stomach, a deep discomfort is keeping me awake and making me a bit tetchy. Tomorrow the City Square consultation comes to an end and the fate of our Gardens could be sealed. Now is our final chance to have a say in what [...] As part of IHEARTUTG, local promoters IMP put together a bill of unplugged musicians to perform for free in the gardens this afternoon. Proof that you don’t need much to bring them to life, just some imagination and the will to do something. As soon as they work out where the train I ordered alongside it is then Pet Portraits are go! Naturally I decided to test out the background on Daisy first, she wasn’t phased by it in the slightest. Rather she spent most of the time jumping on my [...] I ventured into Union Terrace Gardens on Sunday. I was brave, went in all by myself. With all the talk of it being the seedy underbelly of Aberdeen perhaps this was foolhardy, perhaps I was putting myself at risk and perhaps I was going to meet some of the fabled undesirables who supposedly inhabit this dark, [...] I’m really excited to say that we will soon be offering a Pet Portrait service, just as soon as my portable background arrives! I really enjoyed doing pet sessions when I worked for Venture so I’m quite looking forward to getting back into the unpredictable world of working with animals.
