I have agonised over this project and have read almost everthing written by both sides.

My conclusion is that the gardens should be revamped with the Peacock project being included. The ASCEF proposal is full of ifs and buts and there are no real certainties.Indeed I still cannot understand how a square will create jobs except during construction unless you have shopping malls beneath??????

Finally I am really annoyed that public money is being channeled top ACSEF for their campaign. The gardens are protected by the Local Plan.I for one will object and insist on seeing a public Inquiry if the ACSEF plan is given the nod.Swinny can leave the forum for he has jumped the gun by offering State cash.He should nt be pre-judging the issue. But then all Governments are arrogant in the misuse of their power!

Our City has lost so much already, we do not need more shops and carparks , we need what we have and love . We called it the trainie park when I was a kid . Can We sign petition . Can we sign up on line , F and D Gray Aberdeen

Hope you don't mind Dave, but I've stolen your links for an email myself, my issue is the amount of people I've spoken to who are unaware of this....

further to Fiona-Jane's post, "Corbie" is an old Scots word for "Crow" who (and still do) nested in the numerous Elm trees. "Haugh" meaning "hill".

Right on, David, I concur wholeheartedly! I suppose you know that the more heavily treed area up beside the Union St bridge was known long ago before the gardens as the 'Corbie Haugh' - and the well was called the Corbie Well, all because of the corvids! It's bad enough they've hidden the Denburn, Aberdeen's original water source, but to choke out our last green space in the city!! Criminal. I'm sure if Donald Trump told the New Yorkers he was going to concrete over Central Park there would be an OUTCRY!

We need our own 'central' park! But we have a council that is no longer accountable to its citizens, so we've got to campaign firstly to get them OUT.

best wishes
